Accessibility Statement
InviteFree is committed to making digital invitations usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technology.
Our Commitment
Accessibility is a first-class consideration for InviteFree. We want every host and every guest — including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, voice control, or high-contrast / large-text modes — to be able to send and respond to invitations without friction. We design and build with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as our target standard.
What We've Implemented
The following accessibility features are present across the InviteFree site as of the date above:
- Keyboard navigation: all interactive controls (invitation wizard, RSVP buttons, forms, navigation menus) are reachable and operable using only a keyboard, in a logical tab order.
- Skip links: a "Skip to main content" link is provided at the top of every page so keyboard users can bypass repeated navigation.
- Semantic HTML: we use proper heading hierarchies, landmark elements (nav, main, footer), and labelled form fields so screen readers can navigate the page structure efficiently.
- Focus indicators: visible focus rings are preserved on all focusable elements rather than removed for visual styling.
- Color contrast: body text and primary interactive elements meet the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio of 4.5:1 (3:1 for large text and UI components).
- Responsive design: content reflows cleanly down to a 320px viewport without horizontal scrolling and supports browser zoom up to 200%.
- Form labels and error messages: every form field has an associated
<label>element, and validation errors are announced in plain language adjacent to the field they describe. - No reliance on color alone: RSVP statuses, form errors, and feature highlights use shape, icon, or text in addition to color so users with color vision deficiencies can interpret the interface.
- Reduced-motion support: background animations and reveal transitions respect the
user's
prefers-reduced-motionsystem setting. - Alt text on meaningful images: non-decorative images include descriptive alt attributes; decorative images are marked appropriately so screen readers skip them.
- Mobile-friendly: tap targets meet the recommended minimum size, and the layout works with one-handed phone use.
Known Limitations
We are honest about areas where our accessibility is still improving:
- Some decorative animation effects on the homepage (floating shapes) are visual flourishes that don't affect functionality, but heavy background animations may still be distracting for some users with vestibular sensitivities even with reduced-motion enabled. We are working on tightening this.
- A small number of template thumbnails use emoji as a visual anchor; these are accompanied by text labels, but the emoji themselves may render inconsistently across assistive technologies.
- The print stylesheet for printed invitations is functional but not yet fully optimized for screen readers used in conjunction with printer drivers.
We treat accessibility issues as bugs and prioritize them accordingly.
Assistive Technologies We Test With
We routinely test InviteFree with the following combinations:
- NVDA + Firefox on Windows
- VoiceOver + Safari on macOS
- VoiceOver + Safari on iOS
- TalkBack + Chrome on Android
- Keyboard-only navigation in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge
Reporting an Accessibility Issue
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on InviteFree, we want to hear about it and fix it. Please send a description of the issue to:
Email: jimmygen2024@gmail.com
Subject: "Accessibility Issue"
When reporting, please include:
- The page URL or screen where the issue occurred
- What you expected to be able to do, and what actually happened
- The assistive technology, browser, and operating system you were using
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two business days and resolve them as quickly as possible. Critical issues that prevent core invitation or RSVP functionality are prioritized over visual polish issues.
Formal Compliance
InviteFree is a free, account-free service operated by a small team. We are not subject to mandatory compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in the way commercial brick-and-mortar businesses are, but we voluntarily target WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance because we believe accessibility is a baseline expectation for any modern web product.
Updates to This Statement
This statement will be updated periodically as we improve accessibility, address known limitations, and adopt newer accessibility guidelines. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent review.
